Although Nevada is not the largest state in the union, our homeowners have shouldered a
disproportionate share of the housing crisis. Nevada has landed at or
near the top of the list of states leading foreclosure filings per
capita since the beginning of the crisis. Nearly 60% of Nevada
homeowners are still underwater, owing more on the loan than the current
market value of the property. While there are no programs currently in
place that will provide a comprehensive recovery of the market, programs
do exist to help targeted homeowners that qualify for assistance.
If you have been a victim of mortgage fraud or a mortgage modification scheme, the Division of Mortgage Lending can assist you.
Homeowners that are experiencing issues with their Homeowners Association (HOA) should contact the Real Estate Division's Office of the Ombudsman for Common Interest Communities.
