David Heath Named Nevada Housing Division CFO

Las Vegas, NV - May 16, 2013

The Department of Business and Industry recently named David Heath as Chief Financial Officer of the Nevada Housing Division.He will be responsible for managing financial and investment activities of the Division’s affordable housing programs as well as the general financial and information technology functions of the agency. 

 

Heath has more than 17 years of public sector financial management experience.He most recently served as the Interim General Manager and CFO of the Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit.Previously, he was employed as the CFO of the City of Santa Rosa, California and Director of Administrative Services with the Town of Truckee, California.Prior to that, he worked as the Director of Finance for Carson City, Nevada.He began his public service career with the Nevada Controller’s Office in 1995. 

 

He possesses extensive experience with a multitude of public financing issues including general obligation bonds, utility system revenue bonds, redevelopment agency tax increment bonds, lease revenue bonds and certificates of participation.  In addition, he has successfully implemented a number of large data processing systems, most recently an enterprise resource planning system and utility billing and customer service information system for the City of Santa Rosa.

 

Heath is a Reno native and earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Nevada, Reno.  He is also licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Nevada.  Heath recently returned to Nevada and is looking forward to bringing his skills and experience in finance and affordable housing support activities to serve the mission of the Nevada Housing Division.

 

Created by the Nevada Legislature in 1975, the Nevada Housing Division is mandated to provide safe, decent and affordable housing to low-to-moderate income Nevadans.  The Division provides low interest rate mortgages and down payment assistance to qualifying individuals and provides funding for affordable multi-family housing developments for seniors and families.  In addition, the Division oversees the Hardest Hit Fund, which assists homeowners at risk of default or foreclosure.
