Department
of Business and Industry Director Bruce Breslow today announced that Ron Grogan
has been appointed as Administrator of the Taxicab Authority
, effective September 28
.
The appointment comes after a months-long nationwide recruitment to fill the
vacancy resulting from the resignation of former administrator Charles Harvey
in October 2014. Jennifer DeRose, who served as Interim Administrator during a
portion of the vacancy, will resume her primary responsibilities and duties as
Deputy Administrator at the agency.
Grogan
has 20 years of experience in organizational leadership positions with 10 years
at the director level. For the past 7 years, he has served as the Equal
Employment Opportunity Director with the State of Nevada where he was
responsible for investigations, staff training and development, program
management, conflict resolution and agency operations.
Previously,
he was Vice President of Human Resources at Hitachi Global Storage
Technologies. Prior to that he worked at IBM Corporation in finance and
administration and served in a number of capacities including Director of Human
Resources. Grogan has extensive experience in the technology industry and
a proven track record of implementing strategies to improve organizational
performance and morale.
Grogan
earned a bachelor’s degree in Organization Behavior at the University of San
Francisco and holds an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from City College
of San Francisco. In addition, he holds certifications in Emotional
Intelligence (EQ) Mentoring and Coaching, Mediation, and Conflict
Resolution. He is a certified instructor in Crucial Accountability
Training.
