Department of Business
and Industry Director Bruce Breslow today announced that
Barbara
Richardson
has been appointed as
Commissioner of the
Nevada Division of Insurance. Ms. Richardson will join
the Division in March
.
The appointment comes
after a months-long nationwide recruitment to fill the vacancy
after the
resignation of Scott Kipper in July 2015
. Amy Parks, who served as ActingCommissioner during the interim
, will resume her
primary responsibilities and duties as
the Chief Insurance Counsel at the Division.
Richardson
has served as the Director of Operations and Fraud for the New Hampshire
Insurance Department for the past eleven years where she managed multiple units
including Business, Budget, IT, Human Resources, Criminal Investigation,
Licensing and Premium Tax Collection. In that capacity, she served as a state
representative at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and was
active on a number of working groups and task forces.
Previously,
she was an
adjunct professor
at
the University of New Hampshire School of Law and Franklin Pierce College.
Prior to that she worked as a private practice
attorney after graduating from the University of New Hampshire School of Law.
Richardson
earned a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Vassar College and a MBA
in Finance from Loyola University.
