Insurance Commissioner Richardson accepts recommendation for Network Adequacy

Carson City, NV - November 04, 2016

Commissioner Barbara Richardson officially accepted the Network Adequacy Advisory Council’s recommendation for the establishment of additional standards to use in evaluating each health benefit plan network for Plan Year 2018. The Council submitted their recommendations to the Commissioner September 14, 2016.

The Commissioner accepted the Council’s recommendation on October 12, 2016. The recommendation adds a pediatric service requirement as well as amending the time and distance calculations for access based on Nevada’s unique geographic character of population and health service providers, in addition to the standards established for Plan Year 2017.

A workshop and hearing has been scheduled to implement the Council’s recommendation as a temporary regulation for Plan year 2018 policies as follows:

The Council will be reconvened early 2017 to begin the process for Plan Year 2019.
