Las Vegas, NV -
June 02, 2014The Nevada Safety
Consultation and Training Section (SCATS), the State’s OSHA safety and training
counterpart, is encouraging construction industry employer participation in a
National Fall Prevention Safety Stand Down. Fall hazards account for the
highest number of deaths in the construction industry with 269 construction
worker fatalities reported in 2012.
Led by the U.S. Department
of Labor, the national awareness campaign scheduled from June 2-6 aims to
provide employers and workers with life-saving information about working safely
from ladders, scaffolds, roofs and other elevated surfaces. Employers and
workers are asked to pause their workday to talk about fall prevention in
construction.
Employers interested in
participating can visit www.osha.gov/StopFallsStandDown
for information about how to conduct a successful event, download informational
materials and download a certificate of participation.
