Carson City, NV -
October 30, 2014Nevadans
who purchase health insurance on their own or through a small business can now
see how much it will cost in 2015 at doi.nv.gov.
The
Nevada Division of Insurance has posted all approved Plan Year 2015 health
insurance rates, plan documents, formularies and provider networks, for the
Individual and Small Group markets online at doi.nv.gov. This is the first
chance Nevadans will have to view the cost of health insurance for 2015.
“Overall,
in 2015 the health insurance market is looking very competitive and stable,”
said Insurance Commissioner Scott J. Kipper. “Existing plans on the individual
market are experiencing a four to eight percent increase, which is lower than
the increase in health care costs. In the small group market, rates are
remaining relatively flat.”
The
number of plans available in Nevada has also increased. In the individual
market, the number of plans on the exchange has increased by 34 percent, while
the number of plans in the entire individual market has increased by 56
percent.
In
the small group market, the number of plans available in 2015 has increased by
44 percent.
“The
significant increase in competition is great news for Nevadans,” said
Commissioner Kipper. “It is in everyone’s best interest to shop around and make
insurance companies compete for their business. The number of new plans in
Nevada has played large role in keeping the average premium from increasing greatly
in Nevada.”
Another
notable factor for 2015 is the second lowest silver premium of each rating area
on the Exchange. This is used to set the baseline for premium assistance
received. In Clark and Washoe County the second lowest silver premium remained
relatively flat. However, in Carson City and most rural counties the second
lowest silver premium on the exchange decreased approximately 4 to 8 percent.
