service to the State of Nevada.
The Employee
Veteran of the Month award initiative was launched in January 2021. Each month,
an employee veteran is honored by the Nevada Department of Administration
Director and the Administrator of the Division of Human Resource Management.
Dwayne Harris began his military career at Nellis AFB in Nevada
as a Response Force Member of the United States Air Force (USAF) Security
Forces. Later during his career with the
USAF, he joined the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), where,
as an enlisted Special Agent he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant and the

NV. He has served in numerous positions while in the USAF such as a Senior Desk
Sergeant, Tactical Automated Security System (TASS) Administrator, Fly-Away

course of his 23-year career with the US Air Force, he deployed four times in

Technology and Military Science from the Community College of the Air
Force. He is a certified Active Shooter
Threat Instructor, Law Enforcement Driver Instructor, Law Enforcement

Homeland Security.
Harris was selected for this
recognition and honor due to his dedication, innovation, and hard work to carry
out the Workers’ Compensation Section’s mission to
uphold the highest standards of health and safety services to all of Nevada's
employees and the public. He has been a highly valued and respected
employee with the State of Nevada since onboarding in 2023. He never hesitates
to assist anyone and works tirelessly to ensure affiliated sections and the
Employer Compliance Unit accomplish their goals. Harris’
duties include conducting
site visits to ensure mandatory coverage requirements, field training for newly
hired investigators, payroll audits and complex uninsured employer
investigations and outreach. He is assigned to rural areas of Southern Nevada
due to his strong investigative background and leadership qualities.
According to Jodi McCollins, WCS Chief
Administrative Officer, Dwayne recognizes the strengths of his team members and
inspires others by assisting whenever needed and working as a team. In
addition, he enjoys coordinating team building and morale building activities.
“On behalf of the
