Certifications can play a pivotal role in developing new opportunities for business. The entities below can help businesses understand and acquire these certifications, as well as find business opportunities related to them.
NGEM allows contractors and suppliers to register in one central location to receive requests for bids or proposals from all participating entities, free of charge. We expect additional entities to join NGEM in the future, further increasing the value to suppliers. In addition to centralized registration, NGEM allows for online publishing of solicitations by the participating entities, and online submission of bids or proposals by offerors. This is a first in Nevada public contracting, and we believe our suppliers and contractors will be as pleased as we are with the time and materials savings, increased efficiency, electronic record keeping and more.
NGEM is administered by staff from all participating government entities, and does not have its own offices or budget.

APEX Accelerator [formerly known as the Nevada Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC)]helps simplify the process and cut through the red tape, connecting Nevada businesses with lucrative opportunities.
This COUNCIL, was created by ordinance on August 4, 1987, and has had several amendments since it’s creation. It’s mission is to assist the County to increase the number of minority, women, and small businesses doing business with the County.
The Clark County Small Business Opportunity Program (SBOP) is designed to assist small business owners who want to increase their capacity to compete for contracts. Small business owners who sign up for SBOP receive professional guidance and support as they build capacity to compete for contracts through a combination of classroom sessions, mentoring, coaching and County relationship-building activities. Small business participants gain access to contract opportunities for local government, college universities and some private agencies.

RBDAC reports to the Nevada State legislature. Their mission is to increase the participation of small, minority, woman, veteran, disadvantaged businesses within Clark County. It does so by seeking to impact policy and legislation.
The RiSE program is designed to help connect Nevada’s small and diverse businesses to all RTC-funded transportation contracting opportunities. In that effort, the RTC’s goal is to award 8% of construction and 2% of professional services contracts to local small business (LSB) and/or local diverse business (LDB) firms on all RTC-funded projects

NVGrow is a State of Nevada small business initiative customized for Southern Nevada existing businesses that have over $50,000 and less than $700,000 in sales. Every Wednesday morning, one or two early-stage startups present their companies to a diverse audience of their peers, mentors, educators, and advisors. Each founder presents for six minutes, followed by a 20-minute question-and-answer session with the audience. Afterward, each startup receives feedback via an audience survey and from the local organizers in their city.
Access Community Capital is a community loan fund primarily providing small businesses with access to credit. Each applicant may also receive technical assistance to assist in planning and preparation for various aspects of their business. The organization is established as a non-profit organization with a mission-driven purpose to support individuals and businesses not traditionally served by the mainstream financial institutions.

Exporting
A FTZ is a designated location within the state that is treated as if it is outside U.S. boarders for customs purposes. The zone can be used for storage, distribution, and production activities. When items are imported into the FTZ, no customs duties are required to be paid until the product leaves the location. If the item is re-exported outside of the U.S., no duty has to be paid and it is entirely exempt from tax, or use fees. Once the items are shipped outside of the designated trade zone to be sold within the country, duty and all associated fees are paid at that time.
A designated site licensed by the (FTZ) Board at which special customs procedures may be used. Program designed to provide incentive to US Companies to perform some economic activity within the USA. Procedures allow domestic activity involving foreign items to take place prior to formal customs entry into US commerce. FTZs are governed by the FTZ Board and once activated by users, they are restricted access sites under Customs & Border Protection supervision.
The Global Trade and Investment programs are aimed at both assisting Nevada businesses to begin or expand activities in international markets and also attracting foreign investment to the state. The state's trade program, located in the Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development, works with partners such as the Northern Nevada International Center, the Nevada World Trade Council (NEWTRAC), the Las Vegas and Reno Export assistance Centers (EAC) and the Nevada District Export Council (DEC) and the Western U.S. Agricultural Trade Association (WUSATA).

EmployNV is a tool for employers looking to hire employees as well as individuals looking for employment.
The Nevada Equal Rights Commission (NERC) oversees the state's Equal Employment Opportunity program, handling employment discrimination complaints relating to: race, national origin, color, creed/religion, sex, sexual orientation, age (40 and over), disability, genetic information, and gender identity or expression. NERC works with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to investigate and bring suit for complaints of discrimination. NERC also has jurisdiction in Nevada to investigate allegations of discrimination in housing and places of public accommodations.
One of the opportunities for companies looking to expand or locate their business operation in Nevada is the State’s ready and willing workforce, as well as Nevada’s commitment to create training programs that will equip workers with the skills needed by our employers. WINN represents the first workforce development training program of its kind in Nevada and is a commitment to businesses to arm them with the skilled employees that they need. The program is administered by GOED in coordination Nevada System of Higher Education, the Governor’s Office of Workforce Innovations, the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, and the Nevada Department of Education. NVGrow is a State of Nevada small business initiative customized for Southern Nevada existing businesses that have over $50,000 and less than $700,000 in sales. The Department of Labor (DOL) administers and enforces more than 180 federal laws. These mandates and the regulations that implement them cover many workplace activities for about 10 million employers and 125 million workers. DOL's principal statutes most commonly applicable to businesses, job seekers, workers, retirees, contractors and grantees.
Workforce Connections is Southern Nevada’s Local Workforce Development Board (LWDB). Their geographical jurisdiction includes the Southern Nevada counties of Clark, Nye, Lincoln and Esmeralda. They establish dynamic partnerships with employers and the community to connect job seekers to education, job training and employment opportunities. Nevada Legal Services, Inc. (NLS) is a non-profit organization providing free legal services to low income Nevadans. NLS is a state wide organization assisting every county in Nevada.
