Deputy Director Nikki Haag


Nikki HaagNikki Haag is the Department of Business and Industry's Deputy Director overseeing the Office of Boards, Commissions, and Councils Standards. Created with the passage of SB 431 during the 2023 legislative session, the office is responsible for centralized administration and setting standards of uniformity for 37 occupational licensing boards.

Nikki's multifaceted career began with Southwest Airlines, where she honed her skills in customer service management, staff development, and operational efficiency, eventually managing and supervising large teams to deliver exceptional service standards.

In 2012, she transitioned to a career in public service within the Nevada Governor's Office, serving in multiple roles including Office Manager, Executive Assistant, Constituent Services Program Officer and Boards and Commissions Program Officer. In her capacity as Boards and Commission Program Officer, she was the Governor's liaison for over 200 Governor-appointed boards and commissions. Her responsibilities included managing the application and appointment processes, ensuring compliance with state statutes, and maintaining fiscal accountability across operations.

Continuing her trajectory of public service, she joined the Department of Health and Human Services Aging and Disability Services Division in 2018 as the Public Information Officer, where she led efforts in community engagement, legislative liaison, and tribal relations. Her work significantly contributed to enhancing the Division's visibility and fostering collaborative relationships with various stakeholders.

In May 2022, she was hired as the SNAP-Ed Program Administrator within the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services, overseeing the development and implementation of education and outreach programs aimed at promoting nutritional well-being. Her role involved ensuring program and fiscal compliance, managing external vendor relationships, and advocating for improvements in program performance.

Most recently, she served as the Community Engagement Manager at the Aging and Disability Services Division, supervising administrative support for public bodies and ensuring their operations aligned with state regulations. Her efforts in stakeholder coordination, budget monitoring, and compliance with law and regulations have been invaluable in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of agencies with Nevada state government.

Nikki holds an Associates Degree of Applied Science from South Plains College and has attended UNLV. She is an active member of the Council for the Establishment of Academic Standards for Public Schools since November 2015, having been appointed to the role by both Governors Sandoval and Sisolak.
