Amy L. Parks, Esq. Appointed as Acting Insurance Commissioner

Department of Business and Industry Director Bruce Breslow today appointed Amy L. Parks as Acting Insurance Commissioner. Ms. Parks' appointment follows the resignation of former Nevada Insurance Commissioner Scott Kipper.

Ms. Parks has eleven years of senior management experience at the Division.  This is her second time serving as acting commissioner. She has served as chief insurance counsel and hearing officer at the Division of Insurance since 2009. Prior to that she was the Division's insurance counsel and a hearing officer. 

Parks is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Laboratory Medicine in 1980. In December 1995, Parks received her Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Parks was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 1996 and the State Bar of Nevada in 1997. While attending law school at Lewis & Clark College, Parks won Outstanding Oral Advocate in Appellate Moot Court competition, and received the American Jurisprudence Award in Insurance Law.
