Former State Controller Catherine Byrne Named Nevada Housing Division Chief Financial Officer

Nevada Housing Division (NHD) administrator Steve Aichroth announces that Catherine Byrne has been named as NHD’s Chief Financial Officer. She will be responsible for managing financial and investment activities of the division’s affordable housing programs as well as the general financial and information technology functions of the agency.  

Catherine has worked her entire career in accounting, tax and auditing for a variety of public and private companies, nonprofit, and government entities. She is an expert in governmental accounting and financial reporting.  Most recently, she was elected to serve as Nevada State Controller from 2019 to 2022. Prior to that, she was employed in the Nevada State Controller’s Office in the financial reporting section which prepares the state’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, Popular Annual Financial Report and the financial statement for the Permanent School Fund. 

 While working and raising a family, Catherine persevered to complete her education and in 1997, graduated from California Lutheran University, earning a B.S. in Accounting and the title of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 2000. She is currently licensed in California and Nevada.
