Ellery
Tiongson, Operations Support Unit Industrial Hygienist Trainer with the
Division of Industrial Relations, Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) has
been selected as the February 2023 Nevada Employee Veteran of the Month for his
outstanding contributions and service to the State of Nevada.
The Employee
Veteran of the Month award initiative was launched in January 2021. Each month,
an employee veteran is honored by the Nevada Department of Administration
Director and the Administrator of the Division of Human Resource
Management.
Ellery was
selected for this recognition and honor due to his dedication, innovation, and
hard work to uphold Nevada OSHA’s Mission. Ellery has been a highly
valued and respected employee with the State of Nevada for a total of 17 years.
He never hesitates to assist anyone and works tirelessly to ensure new hires
receive the best training possible. As an industrial hygienist trainer, he
conducts field training with newly hired Compliance Safety and Health Officers
(CSHO) to ensure employer compliance with safety and health requirements. In
addition, he creates and conducts training as needed for all staff.
Ellery began
his military career at Nellis AFB, Nevada as a Bio-environmental Engineering
Specialist and is now a Major in the Unites States Army Reserve as an
Environmental Science Officer. He has served numerous tours including
deployment to Atlantic City Field Medical Station, Atlantic City, N.J., in
support of the Department of Defense COVID-19 response, 9-11 response in New
York City, and Honduras.
He holds
numerous degrees, licenses, and certificates. Ellery received a degree in
Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology from the Community College of the Air
Force, Bachelor of Science in Individualized Studies with a major in Industrial
Hygiene and Bio-Environmental Management, and a Master of Science Degree in
Occupation Safety and Health with a major in Environmental Management. Ellery
is a certified Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), Certified Occupational
Hearing Conservationist (COHC), Occupational Safety and Health Technologist
(OHST), Construction Safety and Health Technician (CHST), Haz-Mat Technician
Level-1 Certified, and Asbestos Certified AHERA Building Inspector.

and commend him for his dedicated service to our country and the state of Nevada.
